use the forums for free advertising like someone by the name of "The Polish King" does? Everytime someone discusses cleaning their caravan this person intervenes and starts telling us how wonderful the stuff is from their unknown company with little trading histroy in comparison to the competition.

If Baileys want to endorse this person's product, that is their issue but no ways does Baileys state that one should not use any other cleaner on a Baileys caravan. Until I see an officially endorsed memo from Baileys stating not to use any other cleaning products on a Baileys caravan, I will take whatever this person says about their product with a pinch of salt. To me the other waxes recommended in the same edition of PC are better and probably longer lasting although they may be more labour intensive. My personal choice is "Mothers" or Caravan Autoglym.

I've seen that nic but haven't paid that much attention. I thought the Polish King was Good King Wenceslas.

I reecall a while ago when I posted about Plassey Touring Park in North Wales John the owner responded favourably. However the mods. told him that the forum was not to be used for free advertising by a company - the only way it could be promoted was by individual recommendation - incidentally I was also told off by Lord B. for favourably mentioning the site on a number of occassions hehehehe. Probably he will now be having another go at me for this mention. The principle however is the same whether it be a cleaning product or a first class touring site.

Roger - it was Lord B. and myself in a bit of friendly banter as far as the telling off. The mods. politly told the site proprietor regarding the "free" advertising was not acceptable

Our forum rules state that members may not transmit advertising or promotional material. We usually interpret this as meaning unsolicited advertising. So, if a member asked for advice or recommendation for a specific product or problem, it would be acceptable for a supplier to suggest his own product if it was relevant and would do the job. We would be doing our members a disservice if we removed useful recommendations just because they were put forward by their supplier. Obviously it would be wrong if the supplier took advantage of this and promoted and his product when not specifically asked about.

I seem to remember a forum member (across the popular UK caravan forum sites) saying how happy they were using a certain caravan polish - and then someone twigged that they were the manufacturer promoting their own products...
