Can someone refrsh my memory as to the width limit for PLG vehicles. I am aware that some of the hobbys Tabberts and Romas can only be towed by commercial vehicles.

I am looking for a new van an like the Hobby, but I am concerned by the width of some of these monsters

I may need to buy a Transit Tourneo to take my tribe and large 'Van away.

Lee, the MAX width legally allowed to be towed under your normal car driving licence is 2.3 mtrs.

To tow a 2.5 mtr caravan you need a tow vehicle with a maximum weight of 3501 kilos or above

Copied from the Gov website:

Dimensions

9. I am thinking of purchasing a caravan from a dealer in Holland, it is 2.4 metres wide; may I legally tow it with my 2004 Vauxhall Vectra?

No, under the Road Vehicles Construction and Use Regulations the maximum width allowed for a trailer is 2.3 metres if the towing vehicle has a maximum weight of 3500 kg or less.

If you require any further information regarding the regulations covered by this fact sheet, please contact the DfT at the address below:
