Will an upsurge in refurbishments leading to more break downs ?

I have to say some of the replies get very very technical and involved at times and likewise quite harsh in terms of and I am thinking towing capacity here about risking lives. I know safety is paramount and the advice needs to be given but when in actual fact there doesn't seem much scientific evidence for some advice and the legality of the thing isn't in question then perhaps a gentler touch may be needed? Give advice but don't lecture. I don't want teaching unless I ask for a lesson but ,I want advice if I ask for it. There is a difference. Everyone has their own opinion based on their experience and this forum usually seems brilliant at that but sometimes to me anyway goes overboard . I know you don't have to read on but some feel compelled to do so perhaps. hope that makes sense?
