Windermere Site for Campers

When visiting the Lake District we usually stay at either Park Coppice or Meathop Fell. We are planning to visit again at the end of May however we have some friends who want to join us with their tent. Meathop doesnt accept tents and Park Coppice may not be ideal with the stony ground. Can anybody reccomend similar sites to the above but which will accomodate our friends tent. We all have young children so prefer sites without bars and the associated late night noise.

we stayed at meathop fell over easter and saw several tents pitched next to caravans or inside awnings,dont know if they had permission or not, but nobody moved them.

Why don't you try the Camping and Caravanning Club which accomodates tents and vans?

They have a number of sites in the Lake District which you could use.
