Window blinds

Hi, Two roller blinds have unwound and cannot get them to tighten up, has anyone any ideas where replacements could be located reasonably. thank you.

It is usually possible to re-tension the roller springs by carefully removing the end caps. Somewhere I saw an article on just how to do this but can't put my hand on it at the moment. Try a Forum search or hope some other member has a better memory than me. Worth the effort as new blinds will be expensive.

When the van is in storage should the blonds be pulled down or left open. I think I read someplace that if you leave the blinds taut this weakens the springs is that correct ??

Hi Ray, thank you for your help, will try and see if the blinds will re-tension, we have not had the van long so it is all about learning. The roller blinds and the roller from motor mover both gone this weekend, so are having a bit of bad luck. Thanks again.

Hi Frank,

In storage - blinds up to protect the springs.

But then you have the potential issue of sunlight fading the fabric. So we use (cut to size) cardboard panels that slide up the window blind grooves.

Depending on the type of blind, there is usually a tensioning screw on the end of the cassette that can be tightened.

I have the same problem with the front blind on my Bailey Ranger which covers the whole front window. The tensioning screw can't be accessed due to the lack of room so the whole cassette system has to be removed to gain access.

Thanks Rob,

Will sort some panels out when were back from Prague.

It's normally just a case of pushing in the button on the end of the roller, tightening it a few turns with a small, flat bladed screwdriver and letting the button gently spring back out into its locator.
