Window Etching

On our good old 1984 Eldiss Cyclone the following is etched on the windows:

After having the 'van for 8 years, I have never known its meaning.......

Can anyone enlighten me?
 
In '84 the VIN number wasn't etched on the windows so it's probably a maker's (Polyplastic?) code for the window size/shape or original tint - the tint does fade over time.
