Well not exactly full, but about an inch and a half of water sloshing about in the bottom of the front window, this was after heavy rain in the Yorkshire Dales last week.

Can it be dried out and resealed? If so how? or is it a case of mending it with a new one?

regards and happy caravanning

First of all it's best to try to find out where the water is coming in Joann, either the rubber surround, the mastic sealant or the window itself is letting in the water. There's no point in replacing a window if the window is ok but the seal has gone so unless you can see anything obvious from inspecting the area behind the blinds and curtains or if the window is cracked you might be better to get a moblile caravan engineer to have a quick look so that you can deal with the water ingress effectively without spending money on guesswork.

Hi Parksy, the water is inside the window between the two double glazing panes. Inside the caravan is dry it is not letting the rain in.

Would it be possible to drill two small hole's on the inside pane below where the seal sits one at each side ?
( the water will then run back down the outside of the van )
So that what gets in for now can get out & it will allow the window to dry out ?

If the water is inside then your window, then it is either cracked somewhere or has delaminted at the top. A full check is advised to find the entry point. You will need to drill two small holes to drain the window. If you need a new window, your not going to be pleased at the price.

You can get a new window 'made to measure' at EECO in Shelf, near Halifax - and prices are quite reasonable, we thought. We had a six foot x three foot window made and it wasn't a bank-breaker!

You might not need to drill holes in your window. If you can remove the window when you get home, you should be able to turn it upside down and drain the water out from the point that has allowed it in, once you have identified the point of entry, you should be able to establish the extent of the damage and whether a repair or replacement will be needed.

Sometimes you find the adesive holding the 2 halfs together has parted ,remove the window slides out of the channel ,remove the 2 rubber plugs inside the window water can be tipped out of these.Look around the window where the bubble outside meets the flat inside may see a bit not sealed,if not dry out window and replace the rubber bungs as sometimes it can be a build up of condensation

Hiya
Yes it can....we had the same issue earlier this year.
Firstly you need to find where the split is.
Gently try to let all the water our then dry the area.
We used Aroldite to seal the split then covered in boat tape just to complete the seal. No need to remove the window.
Inside - take out the 2 bungs, keeping them in a safe place, then on a warm day we used an air bed pump that sucked and blew, using a small length of tube to fit the pump bung (taped on) then sucked out the damp......it took quite a while and we kept the heating on in the caravan to ensure that warm dry air was going into the window space.
We now have a bright and clear, damp free window, whick one company quoted me £700 to replace...
Good luck.

Jack

Thanks for all the advice, before this happened that window did used to steam up inside with condensation, so maybe a small hole has turned into a bigger one. Will have a go at getting the water out and resealing as suggested.

Ihave just had a window relaminated by http://www.eeco-ltd.co.uk/ the total cost for my front window including my postage to & from them including insurance for £360 was £95 its not leaked at all since even though we have had dreadfull weather

the other alternative is to do it yourself with this off Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Caravan-Campervan-Window-Repair-Sealant-Completely-Translucent-from-Germany-/261041417804?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item3cc747ee4c#ht_756wt_1185
.You will need to seperate both halfs of the window BUT DO NOT REMOVE THE TOP RAIL off the window as it is put on by machine & preferably you need A syringe to get the sealant into the top section of the 2 halfs
If you decide to use EECO do not attempt any repair before you send the window off
