Window Seals

Hi all..one of the jobs on my list of things to do before the coming season, is to replace the seals on the front windows of my ageing Abbey 212. I'd planned to take it to a dealer but having read all the past posts from you experienced 'vanners, (I'm a newbie!), I'm now happy to do it myself. But the one thing that I don't know is where's the best place to buy the seals. Is it best to get them from the dealer, accessory shop or online from someone like 'SealsDirect'? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Robin.

Hi You can buy your seals on line from seals direct or indeed the dealer or other places on the web,as its an old van as you say you will have to take in effect that you can still get the seals or are the old seals worth doing something with,ie like taking the old seals off and putting a roll out mastic underneath.then putting the seal back and then re stapling and then sealing the outside of the seal to the van, this i have done with mine and it seems to be ok and its worked out cheaper,

Hi Eddie..thanks for your reply. I can't re-use the old seals as the plastic/rubber has gone hard and starting to break up. So I guess its check out the size and cross section and buy them online. The way the weather has been today, I'm thinking of swapping the 'van for an Ark! Cheers, Robin.

Robin, you are probably best going to Seals Direct for new window rubbers, you wil find them very reasonable, with no "Dealer Add On" on the price

Just don't do what I did when I wanted some neoprene seals for a job.

I googled for "rubber strip".

Quite a revelation!
