WINTER CARAVANING IN SPAIN

We are considering doing some winter caravaning in southern Spain. We will be going by ourselves and would appriciate veiws of the best club to book/go with or whether to go direct to Spainish sites with bookings etc. Are rallies a better bet? if so which. Also best areas and main pitfalls and problems. How safe is the adventure given the reports of French/Spainish criminals targeting caravaners.

Hi Wayne,

Thousands go down there and only a few have any problems.

Not many Spanish sites will accept bookings for winter and most have good rates if you stay at least a month, but for a short stay can seem expensive.

Maybe one of the UK Caravan clubs rallies would be a good idea for a first time. Lots of people on those go to other sites as well and could suggest places to visit.

Smaller places can be a bit dead in winter with restaurants closed. The bigger the resort the cheaper the cost of living will be. We often have a Chinese menu including a half bottle of wine and coffee after for 4_.
