I went yesterday to move the van a 1/4 turn of the wheels to stop it sitting in the one spot on the tyres. I have not noticed any other vanners doing this at the storage yard !!!

Should I bother or is it a pointless exercise ???

I don't know if it is pointless or not, but I do it.

I take mine for a walk on the mover, just to keep bearings & tyres in as good a condition as I can. Maybe a waste of time, but as I have got no money, thats all I have got to waste.

No its not a pointless exercise Frank. It will protect the sidewall of the tyre by rotating the wheels slightly every few weeks if the van is in storage for a relatively long period.

Caravan tyres that are left in one position and are not covered have the UV damaging the tyre wall. I borrowed a caravan that had been left standing and the tyres seemed fine.About 70 miles up the road a large flap blew out the side wall in the curved shape of the tyre wall when standing!

For a tenner you can buy two ton axle stands and lift the van slightly clear of the ground and save the rubber suspension bushes, cover the wheels and turn them easily and do whatever you want.
