Winter Wheels

Is it recommended to use winter wheels and if I do can I use locking nuts with them. I store my van on a farm and after the school holidays in October, I dont see me using it again before end of March.

Check with your insurers that they are happy wit that plan. Some are not. Also check with the farm in case the famer asks to be able to move the van for his own farming reasons. He may store it in one location for a few months and the need to get access.

They obviously make a van harder to steal but not impossible. If thieves want it, they will get it.

The one downside is if you wish to move the van in a hurry, then it is difficult. You also have to store the main wheels at home and that can be awkward as they are bulky.

just put winter wheels on 19 pounds for two

i keep mine on storage site dose not need to be moved so no probs.

managed to put wheel clamp on steel wheel type s.a.s that gose over a wheel nut/bolt.looks odd winter wheels and wheel clamp

Thanks guys - i dont need to move the van at all, what is the risk to normal wheels if i dont take them off and dont move the van all winter.

I can store the wheels at home if necessary in a small garage.

I had thought about leaving the wheels on and putting it on axle stands but am not sure if the cross tube is actually strong enough to take it.

This would prevent "flats" on the tyres.

You can buy plastic pads that are curved so the wheels will not develope flats. Cost about

one guy i read of lost his claim when it was stolen by fitting winter wheels.they said no wheels no clamp fitted as required by the policy.so please ask them.

as i said put clamp on and winter wheels and took photo

wlnter wheels for less than 20 pounds locking plates for 20 poundsfor 2 makes it ok and use year afteer tear
