winterhof ws3000 towing hitch

I tow a magnum 524 fittd with a winterhof ws3000 hitch and use a Kia sorenta with a witter tow bar. The hitch tows really well, however I often have problems uncoupling the van, the hitch seems to be "stuck" to the tow bar ball. The only way I can then release it it is to nudge the van back and forth several times. I do have the correct ball fitted and it has never been oiled or greased. Is this a common problem and is there a solution.

It is a common problem with all the hitch head stabiliser units.

The drawbar needs to have no pressure being put on the hitch to allow it to uncouple easily.

If you reverse on to a pitch, when you have located your van, just allow the car to ease forward a little to allow the drawbar to get to its resting position.

The towball needs to be perfectly clean, no paint, no oil or grease anywhere near the hitch head.

I have had a similar problem with my winterhoff hitch,i found the problem seemed to be exagerated when i pulled the handbrake on before i unhitched.I now chock the wheel and as soon as the van it off the hitch apply the handbrake.
