I have now got my router linskys as recommended by some you and have switched it all on, the trouble is my outlook express says it can't connect to remote computer - what does all this mean - I am able to connect to the internet no problem and I can access my e mails through web mail, but I can't get outlook express to work, have I done something wrong in the setting up - I have checked the settings and addresses and they seem ok - shall I wipe my new laptop clean and reset it all up from scratch - I haven't got much on it yet anyway? Please help - ps before I plugged in wirelessly I was able to use outlook -

I expect you will have a firewall in the router and this is why outlook is falling over, check the firewall settings. This is only a guess as I don't have a linskys.

Good Luck

Hi Sian,

have you checked in ur Outlook express that your account is set to use any connection available?

Goto Tools, accounts, Mail, highlight the mail account and select properties, click on the Connection tab, and make sure there is no tick in the box that says Always connect........etc. Also.. OK all the previous, go back to Tools, select options, click on the connection tab, at the section titled Internet connection settings, click on the Change button and when the next window comes up click on OK, then OK again and close and reopen Outlook express and see if that works!

If you still have problems let us know and I can talk u through checking your Firewall

We use a large number of Linksys routers and they are generally straightforward to set up.

Regards

Thank you so much, you are indeed a genius, I am now back on, I can't believe it, all because of a little tick in the wrong place, where on the instructions does it say to take this off?!

I was getting so frustrated with it. Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
