Hi all; I need your advice. My wife and I are returning to caravanning after a couple of years of abstinence and, whilst it would be easy to simply re-buy what we know (Bailey Senator Oklahoma) and are happy with, I thought I'd ask your advice. My wife and I travel alone, we require a fixed bed; and a good sized lounge area (I am almost 6' and I like to stretch out); the bathroom is not a key thing for us as we always use the site's shower block; however, a loo where you don't have to step in / through the shower is a key thing for my beloved 

Our tow car is a KIA Sorento and was a great tow car for the Bailey Senator.

So, with around £9,000, what would you buy - and why ?

Thanks

John

PS We have just seen the new Bailey Olympus 534 which, apart from the price, is just about spot on !

Hi John

There are a wide range of caravans which are within your budget, Click Here to have a look at some of the layouts which are available on the Practical Caravan sales site.

Thanks chaps. What I find curious is that, whilst I look at other makes and models, they all appear more expensive and no better than the Bailey range.

I mean, is the Bailey the Ford of the caravan world; by that I mean, they are expectationally good value and do everything that you want; except that perhaps, they don't inspire ??

By the way, the 2004 Lunar Lexon Freelander 640 twin axle looks quite nice BUT, what has it got that my "Ford" doesn't? Tell me please.

Thanks :)

John

Bailey and Swift could be said to be the Mondeo and Vectra of the caravan world, Swift produce more units than any other manufacturer closely followed by Bailey.

Equipment levels have gone up in recent times and because of the popularity of the Bailey Pegasus and Olympus there are some very good used Bailey trade ins on dealers forecourts with the new caravans being delivered in the next couple of months.

If you see a caravan that you like which suits your purpose you should go for it, after all the caravan is really a means to an end.

Hi Parksy; yes, I agree. we had a few niggles with our Oklahoma but, essentially, we were comfortable and, as you say, it was a means to an end. Olympus it is then :)

Thanks

With the Sorento and your choice of layout you can't go wrong with a Bailey Senator Wyoming , Swift or Bessacar maybe.

Plenty of 2004/5 models out there in your price range.

Let us all know what you finally choose.

Cheers
