Any suggestions for a site with woods and a stream that I can take my grandchildren to. We had a great time at a site of this sort last summer but it was in Devon and a bit too far away. Looking for somewhere within a couple of hours of Derby.
thanks in advance

The Leen at Leominster sounds just right for you, Lady Mel.( 01544 388305) The river Arrow forms one side of the site, and its surrounded by woodland and farmland.Open March to October
And you might get lucky and find me there!.

Not sure if you can get there in 2 hours but the CC site at Kendall is heavily wooded with a stream running through and looks perfect for your needs. There Carsington Water site at Ashbourne may be a little too close but is also wooded although no stream but the lake is within walking distance.

Thanks Raywood, have done Carsington a couple of times with them; they like the woods, and great for a short weekend. Kendall may be just a little too far for a weekend but I will bear it in mind for a longer holiday.
thanks again

Hi Mel, my son used to go on a site on the other side of the road from Darley Moor, its among the woods , he used to love it there with the kids, and easy to get to ashbourne. Dont know about water though.

Took our granddaughter to C&CC Conkers in the National Forest. Lots to do in the area and close to where you live. Most places in Wilts and Somerset have streams and mini lakes at the moment!

Thanks Graham and Clive. I'll google the Darley Moor site. The Conkers visitor centre is somewhere we go quite often, although we have never stayed on the site.

Strid Wood at Bolton Abbey - absolutely fantastic site! There's a nature trail through the woods, or you can do your own thing.
And near us, so you can call in for a cuppa!

Hi Mel
This one is called Golden Valley Camping & Caravan Park Ripley Derbyshire 01773 513881 open all year I think you find there is plenty to keep your Grandchildren this year and the best thing it on your doorstep.
It a 26 Acre site of historic Forest and a Cromford Canal and it looks great
Regards
