Do we have any fans in the forum?
Must admit we do like our weekly fix and yes, it can be boring at times, but can also discover some real talent such as Rebecca Ferguson and Matt Cardle (who should win)
Obviously I'm already getting withdrawal symptoms since the caravan season ended.
Trying to keep myself amused over the winter months watching shows like this and there's always the hope Mr Cowell will discover the thrill of caravanning and come up with a new show perhaps Strictly Camping, I'm a caravvaner get me out of here! or Towing on Ice.
Role on the Spring season.....I want to get out.

Quite obviously you are starting to suffer from S.A.D. and must get out into the fresh air and soak up whatever sunshine we have during the winter months.

Hi Lada
Nobody is going to admit to watching the X Factor let alone admitting to enjoying any aspect of it but the show regularly attracts audiences of 15 million viewers so there just has to be one or two of us who have a sneaky peek
smiley-wink.gif

I often watch it mainly because Herself watches it and yes, I shout at the tv and give my (loud) opinions of the various acts for the dubious delectation of Herself and the cat.
The show of course should never be taken seriously, believe me when I state that absoulutely nothing which ever appears on tv is what it appears to be.
I was a semi pro musician for many years and although I never acheived the dizzy heights I've met and worked with some of those who did and I've been inside tv and recording studios on several occasions (sweeping up

)
The finalists are already decided no matter which way the 'public vote' goes as was conclusively proven beyond doubt by last weeks blatant fix, this telephone vote is purely to offset the costs of producing the series and enriching Simon Cowell because he owns the production compant SYCO which also manages the all too brief careers of his 'stars'.
I have mixed feelings, one one level I despise everything that a mass manipulator like Cowell stands for and everything that he does is to the detriment of genuinely talented singers, bands and above all songwriters.
On the other hand I'm pleased for the lucky winner who has a (very)slim chance of grabbing 15 minutes of fame with both hands and forging a genuine career in the way that Carol Levis's or Hughie Green's proteges (ask your dad if you are under 55) became household names after breaking free of their own Svengali like shackles which were no different to those which bind Cowells 21st century explotation fodder.
It's not bad Saturday evening entertainment before heading off to the local

I'm afraid I've never watched X Factor. The only times I've caught a bit of an episode is when I visit my mum, she watches all that kind of stuff. I've never watched BB, I'm a celebrity, Strictly, or anything like that.

I have to brag a bit here and say I've seen most of the most famous heavy metal bands. My only regret is that I've never seen Ozzy, I've seen Black Sabbath a few times but without Ozzy.

My claim to fame is that I was asked out by EB Ray. I turned him down, despite him ringing me a few times and taking the trrouble to find out where i lived and paying me a visit.

I just couldn't date someone who I didn't fancy.

Oh, to be young again. LOL!

AHAA! I'm not the only one then!
Yes, I agree this type of show is mainly geared to rake in millions of £'s for Simon Cowell but how clever is he to manipulate the nation and of course the USA with similar shows there and world wide.
There have been a few successes namely Leona Lewis and Will Young who we have actually seen in concert and he is good.
However, how can the likes of Wagner still be in it if it's not rigged?
Those who reply must be sneeking a peek or are closet fans - don't be ashamed to come out!
On the other hand the weatherman (sorry "person") has promised some sunshine today so plan to take a flask of tea and go and sit in the caravan in the storage site to get my fix.

My SIL stopped with us last weekend. She is a fan so had it on. I could hear it when I was in my usual position, sat at my puter
smiley-smile.gif

I think I know what you mean by the person Wagner, I heard that too
smiley-frown.gif

The point is are these shows, X Factor and Strictly (missus watches that), competitions or comedies. Anne Widdicombe is still in because of the public vote but any of my dogs can do the quick step or foxtrot better than her
smiley-undecided.gif

Anyway, no such luck of sitting in the van on the drive chilling out, I have a shed and fence to paint

The blokes always seem to congregate at the bar after the programme has been aired Lord B.
It could be said that for many blokes to gain something we have to give something, in most cases this involves keeping the o/h company as the programme is being shown and making a bolt for the door as soon as the credits start to roll.
We then have something else to discuss over a pint or two after we've done politicians, workshy scroungers (same thing really) and the other usual subjects.
That Wagner thing lives about four miles from us in a place called Pensnett and it's said that he was a regular visitor to a large hotel fitness club where he would allegedly make the ladies who used the gym and fitness facility feel very uncomfortable by sitting around for hours letching at them with his bulging huge gob stopper eyes.
The show is cleverly put together, Wagner is the 'hate figure' to encourage those gullible enough to vote to vote for their own favourite so that they avoid being knocked out by him. There's a pantomime hate figure every year, it's all part of the game and the way that mass public opinion is warped and manipulated makes Goebells and Stalin seem like incompetent amateurs when it comes to using the media for their own ends.

So what you're trying to say Parksy, only in a roundabout tactful way, is you're henpecked

Oh well, another bloke bites the dust

Anyway, I've finished painting the shed and Her Ladyship even offered to help on the understanding that she could be foreperson
smiley-undecided.gif

She was so pleased at how quick I worked she's even told me I needn't do the fence today and to take the rest of the day off. She is so sweet, caring and understanding

Absolutely brilliant description Parksy - couldn't have put it better myself.
As a teetotaller I won't be heading off to the pub after the show tonight but will stand up and be counted as an avid viewer, even if it is pre-ordained who will eventually win.

I'd rather it be said that I was a kind considerate lover who chooses to share the experience with my beloved.
Us singlies have to try that bit harder

I love music and X factor too. It's light hearted banter and I'm always surprised by how the worst sounding notes go unchallenged. I'ts great to sea some new talent getting a chance and good luck to Simon, he brings millions in to this country and we need more people like him at the moment
smiley-smile.gif

As for Wagner, lots of kids vote for him as Facebook have a campaign aimed at turning the tables on Cowell. The youngsters vote for him to upset the apple cart. And why not, Wagner gets his 15 minutes of fame in his middle age and probably will get himself a nice fat pension for his old age thanks to Cowell.
Good luck to the guy

i think every single person in the country should vote for wagner, then when he wins and simon cowell has to spend millions of his own money on a non starter this charade will be banished from our screens for evermore.

this year more than ever there's not one entry who's even nearly got what it takes.

All of the profits from the premium rate telephone votes heading straight for Simon Cowell's bank account, that'll really show him
rolleyes.gif
They would be better off trying to encourage people to not vote at all if they feel that strongly about it but no matter what internet campaigners do they won't beat Cowell. It's my guess that the 'lucky finalists' have already been decided upon, a show with so much money in the bank riding on it would never leave anything to chance.
