X-Trail Detachable Towbar

Anyone out there tow with an X-Trail detachable tow bar?

Where should the breakaway cable be attached?

There is an elongated hole at the bottom of the bit to which the twin electrics are fixed, or should it be looped around the tow ball itself?

Grateful for any advice.

I have a Volvo with a detachable towbar and the same elongated hole for the breakaway cable. However, like you the cable clip will not go through the hole. I am fitting a D clamp to the hole so I can attach the breakaway cable correctly. A some stage I may get a ring welded to the bar. It is not advised to loop it round the towball as this itself could break and then the cable function is invalidated.

Thanks Scotch Lad.

I think I'll do the same then.
