X Type Estate -Tow Car?

Does anyone have experience of towing with the Jag X Type 2.2 D? I am considering this as a replacement to my Mondeo 2.0 TDCi and would appreciate any comments.

The only thing to watch is the max towing weight. I think that the Jaguar has a max of 1500kgs whereas the Mondeo is a little higher at 1800kgs. It depends on the weight of the caravan you will be towing and how near to the limit you want to be.

Although the Mondeo has a max. permissible towload of 1800kg compared to the Jag's 1500kg, it is limited to a max. gross train weight of 3750kg which means that if the Mondeo is fully laden, it effectively has almost the same towload as the Jag.

However, one can put 590kg payload in the Mondeo but only 350kg in the Jag, which is a bit low for an estate. Self-levelling suspension is recommended if the Mondeo is going to used a lot fully laden.

Dynamic towing performance of the Jag is very slightly better because it has a shorter rear overhang.
