'XL' tyres

I'm getting some all weather tyres fitted (as per Spanish law for upcoming trip) and noticed an XL version of the tyre, which it says is for allowing 'extra loading' on each tyre.

Is this a benefit I should consider for towing with a 1350kg van and a car full of awning and other equipment? Tia.

As well as the increase in load-rating, a minor advantage of XL tyres is that the sidewall is thicker which makes it more puncture resistant - but - a minor downside is that the thicker sidewall makes the ride harsher.

Our two cars both have Goodyear Vector All Season Gen 3. At the time I could not find any that were not XL and EV ready. As the aspect ratio of the tyres aren’t low profile I have noticed any harshening of the ride.

Lots of objective tyre test reviews out there to help choosing.
