A CT member also found the towing limit on his V5c to be inaccurate, just to illustrate that what's on the V5c can be inaccurate.

Unfortunately if the owner is called to account for their weight allowances etc, it is the V5c ( which is the record of the cars registration and all its specified weight limits) will be taken as the reference against which the actual vehicle will be compared.

At the side of the road Vosa will account of the vehicle vin plate and a weigh bridge,if that was to ever happen which is very remote.

It is actually quite shocking how Log books , dealers figures and plates can all be out or all say different weights
:eek:hmy:

Doesn't help when you are trying to sort out what Caravan your vehicle can tow
or
what Vehicle you need to tow a certain Caravan

As much as we liked the 554 and 570
we have put them in the liked but are discarded pile.

They cost more anyway so the difference in price we can use else where on a mover or Awning or both and we would have more slack on the weight .

We have 4 Dealer special versions of the 4FB to look at it and they are the only ones which make our cut.

An easier van to manage

We figure an easier match to manage but do what we want it to do :)

We have looked at and considered other Brands but the 4BF ticks most of the requirements.

Tow vehicles again we have looked at and considered but the Yeti seems to fit us. So will be looking at either the 140 or 170 bhp

I have figured out Matching an outfit is as much as finding what suits you as putting together something that is legal or falls within the 85% and doesn't go beyond the 100%

Personally with all these figures being all over the place I would rather have something which works well for us, is safe and falls well within the legal limits and no doubts about it being a legal outfit.

We were just going to just get a 2 berth End washroom van which can be towed by most family cars which would have been quite easy, a lot cheaper

Use the Octavia for now and get a Yeti Later on was plan A

Adding a fixed bed to the mix added a whole pile of "fun" trying to find what fits

We like the Yeti it is a great tow vehicle a very useful solo vehicle and it is our tow vehicle of choice.

Very capable not imposing , doesn't break the bank 4x4 that just gets on with it no fuss or drama :cheer:

Well we looked at a lot of vans .

The end result a bit of a turn up

I don't fit in the major 4FB shower :eek:hmy:

.Well I do but only just and nearly needed a shoe horn.

Having looked at a lot Caravans of all shapes and sizes

the van of choice is Swift Evolution 554 :)

well I can get in the shower and it ticks all the other requirements

The Yeti will do just with the 554

after all it's only 16 kgs heavier than the Van Practical Caravan review team used to review the Yeti 4x4 ;)

The Train weight of the outfit goes over 3,500k but the Wife and I both have B+E Licences
so we not restricted to under 3500 like a B Licence

Finally got there, just have to source the Van and the tug at the end of the summer :)

Hi there.
Just traded my beloved Octy 140 for a Snow Monster 110. Yes I would have preferred a 140 but it wasnt on offer.
Only had one journey so far and find the towing mpg much worse than the Octy. With that I regularly achieved 38 - 43 but my one trip returned about 28 with the Yeti?
Love the car and it feels so comfortable Im wondering what actual figures with the 140 get to compare my Octy. Also has anyone had theirs chipped? Tuned, or an addedplug in chip?
Many thanks

Hi paddlerjay,
I tow an Elddis (MTPLM 1150Kg) with a Yeti 170 4x4, and achieve around 33mpg. This is extremely variable and wind direction, road type, traffic conditions and driving style will all make a significant difference. My consumption is not much different to when I was towing the same 'van with a Golf mk4 TDI 130 estate.
I note you are towing a heavier 'van with a 110 Yeti, but it is mainly torque which counts and I would expect you to be able to obtain better than 30mpg generally, but falling below this at higher speeds or in headwinds.
For what it is worth I am very pleased with my Yeti, both towing and solo. I have had no stability problems (short rear 'overhang' must help,) performance is more tha adequate, and for a vehicle of this shape the fuel economy is very reasonable (around 45mpg solo.)
I would be interested to hear how yours handles the extra weight as I may be looking to change my 'van in the not too distant future.

Enjoy your holidays,

Trevor M

Well
We have taken the plunge and ordered a Snow Monster :)
Going to pick up a 150 bhp 4x4 Sept
Will let you know how it goes when we are able to put the Outfit together :)
I will miss the Octy but there was no way she could be matched with a
MTPLM of 1,420Kg
Our Snow Monster will manage that just fine
Thanks for the input of those that offered advice :)
