Young baby in the caravan

We have just bought our first caravan, a 2000 Elddis Typhoon XL. Our little girl is nine months old and we are hoping for her to sleep on the bed made up from the side dinnete. However, we are concerned that Lucy may roll off the side of the bed onto the foor. (Lucy is getting too big for her travel cot and besides, it takes up too much floor space and blocks the galley area completely.) Has anybody got any ideas as to how we can put up some sort of frame / netting to prevent her from falling off.

Cheers

Dean

Not in the van in our case but when our kids were young many moons ago and they moved from the cot to the big bed we did one of two things, we either rolled up a towel and placed it under the mattress on the open side of the bed (other side of the bed was against the wall) this would have the effect of the young ones having to roll up hill to fall out, or we would put a couple of pillows/cushions down the sides of the bed to give a barrier.

I guess you could use the same method in the van.

weve used them on our kids beds for years then put them in the caravan with our eldest whos 8 to stop him rolling of the top bunk and now our youngest whos 5 because she could fall of and air bed shes that bad they do work

Hi Dean - as Dazicki says the foldable bed guards are perfect.

Our four year old sleeps on the top bunk and despite the end/side guards he still managed to fall out through the middle space one night and scared the life out of us!

Anyhow, we now use the foldable guard in the middle space and he has not fallen out since. They are very light and fold down to a nice size for storage. Very easy and quick to set up.

Hope this helps.

Happy new year!
we brought our first van last year at the time our daughter was 1 year old, we brought Tomy Bedguard from Argos 19.99 but look on ebay, we found the best way to store it during the day when bed not in use was in the shower cubicle.

Our two week old slept in the van last November. He slept in a carrycot, on top of the oven hob - on a low flame only of course.

It was his best nights sleep for the first six weeks of his life. We plan to go away again in March and as he'll be too big for the carrycot, we're hoping the travelcot will fit somewhere - must try it out soon.
