I am sure that the Sorrento will be able to tow the van, however id=f you want to compare the towing abilities then compare the torque, that should give a good indication.

I have to agree with the above postings, Gearboxes are as important as engines for towing, not only do you want a powerfull robust engine, but you also want a robust gearbox.
