There is a nearby, highly recommended caravan site in Heywood, lancashire called Geldwood. I can verify that it is 20-35 minutes drive from Manchester centre. ( traffic density dependent)

The new caravan Club site at Burrs Country Park is about the nearest.Also, the Metrolink tram system from Bury centre takes you every 20 minutes into Manchester Centre and the MEN arena.

The answer to this one is simply Camping Quatre des 4 vents. The pitches are like Caravan Club on grass. It is a very easy 15 minutes away and the gates stay open for access 24 hours. Most of the tourists on site use it for either Disney land or Paris. Highly Recommendable.
