Freedom - anyone else own one?

I've been up to my eyes in work for the last few weeks, so have been away from the forum. Also, have had nothing to report thanks to the deluges in south Wales preventiing any caravanning. So we figure that the little Freedom is now settling down for a winter on the drive, and we are dreaming...

    Small van

Gotta be a Freedom! You can get an older one off eBay for peanuts and because they are fibreglass you don't have to worry about it leaking.

Freedom - anyone else own one?

The other reason I think that Freedom caravans aren't so popular is that they are never reviewed in the magazines. I realise that some people really do want all the luxury of home, but I think there are lots of people who would be happy with a much simpler affair (and less housework). So...

Freedom - anyone else own one?

I am in despair - it seems that the lack of reviews and advertising means that poor old Freedom caravans are definitely a minority interest. They are small, lightweight and don't leak. What's not to like?

Freedom - anyone else own one?

Back to basics caravanning? We haven't got a telly at home! If you compare the Freedom to my last 'mobile home' - a backpacking tent, it is the last word in luxury. My 5 year-old granddaughter loved it - we divided her space (a bench) from the rest of the caravan with pieces of material and...

Freedom - anyone else own one?

Calm down - and thank you both for keeping the thread going. Maybe there is someone else with a Freedom out there who is away at the moment and will see it when they get back thanks to you. Selwyn makes some interesting points - for instance: - to my knowledge, no one has sneered at our tiny...

    Scary moment - advice please

I have today ordered two new Pirelli tyres at great expense to the management!

    C&CC OFFICIALS OR COMMITTEE MEMBERS

We have decided not to renew our C&CC membership next year over this. We joined both clubs and have been alternating visits to each. Plainly both have strengths and weaknesses - and those people who point out that you can't please all the people all the time are right. BUT our recent trip has...

Freedom - anyone else own one?

We love our Polish plastic van. Has anyone else got one, 'cos it would be good to exchange ideas about the things that go wrong (not much so far) and how to fix them. For a start, has anyone tried different sorts of insulation than the nasty beige foam stuff? If so, did it work?

Best time of year to buy?

We bought on eBay in Feb/March - to give us time to get the caravan up and running for the spring, but before the prices went silly. I thought everyone else would make the same calculation, but they didn't. We paid a fair price, and over the summer, have watched very similar caravans go for

    Scary moment - advice please

Duh...problem solved. New (good quality) tyres have been added to the list of jobs for this week. You are all dead right - the tyres are getting close to the 1.6mm limit, and I did know that, and had it on the list of tasks for 'soon'. In truth, I'm not very mechanically minded and I just...

    Scary moment - advice please

Coming back from West Wales in bad weather last week I came upon an unexpectedly steep hill, so couldn't 'pace myself' up it. The car (an Astra petrol auto) was quickly labouring in 2nd gear, and changing to first pushed the revs up, but made the car seem really unstable and slippery on the...

    Glad to be alive!

Phew. and phew again. The Number 1 cause of accidents, according to a ROSPA course I attended recently, is driving too close to the vehicle in front. Your story seems confirmation. The Number 2 cause? Speed. Since attending the course I have slowed down and leave a big gap in front. The...
