Eco cars- Any good for Towing with?

Hi Friends of ours have a VW Touran blue motion and tow a six berth (Cant remember the make – Swift I think) and they are very pleased all round, they recon it does the job effortlessly. As Lutz and John say it should do what the manufacturers claim.

    Electric of Battery

The original poster might like to think about what will happen if the EHU is cut for any reason, and in my experience it often happens. At least you have some back up if you have a battery.

    Advice Please !

Without getting into a convoluted long answer and playing devil’s advocate I would have expected the pump to come with the van. When we traded our old van last year we were told by the dealer that when we came to swop the vans to bring our van with equipment that the new van will have, this...

How long should approved dealer damp repair work last

Yes you are 100% right John - but...........my sister is a lawyer and senior partner in a practice and she always says don’t use solicitors deal with it yourself. Clearly not something she would tell other people because she is there to make money but whenever I have had legal issues that is her...

How long should approved dealer damp repair work last

Agree with Mr mod. We used to get this a lot when I worked for Audi many years ago when they only had 12 months warranty we would replace a part at say eleven months and the customer would assume that part was guaranteed for another twelve months...no it wasn’t it was guaranteed for one month...

    Checking wheel bolt torque?

Exactly. Now for the record I am a trained engineer (Engineering degree) Twenty years with Audi in motorsport and then on research and development. I must have fitted hundreds of wheels and literally thousands as a department, from my knowledge I have never experienced a wheel coming loose...

    Checking wheel bolt torque?

It is not the treads on a stretch bolt that ‘stretches’ it is the unthreaded plain shaft. These bolts are one use only and are designed to stretch, again within a very specific band of tightening criteria. It is wrong to compare them with other bolts on a vehicle. So it is acceptable to fit a...

    Checking wheel bolt torque?

Incorrect.A bolt that is over tightened and thus stretched is weakened and can shear or back off because its strength and grade have been compromised. If a bolt could be over tightened and still be safe then manufacturers would state torque settings as ‘‘X’ minimum but the more the merrier’...

    Checking wheel bolt torque?

OK someone fits your wheels and whacks them on with an airgun set on full – almost certainly the incorrect torque i.e. to tight (If you wanted to change the wheel you might not get them undone, damaged threads, stretched threads leading to stripping when backed off etc)If you use a torque...

    Checking wheel bolt torque?

Theoretically what you are doing is re-torquing your wheels – this will leave you knowing they are done up to the exact tightness. Checking wheels are tight can be done by using any wrench and just feeling that there is no significant movement, although clearly this does not guarantee they are...

    Bailey Alu Tec 2

Here my take on the subject if anyone is interested...no thought not, here it is anyway. I always recon with anything that is a new concept first time buyers/users are guinea pigs and, to a greater or lesser extent, test the products at their expense. Yes you can stand with your cutting edge...

    Ford Ranger towing fault

Before anyone jumps down my throat this is just a personal opinion but I have towed many car trailers (with rally cars on) with various double cabs and they always seem to tow dreadfully. The only time they perform better is if we have had loads in the back of the vehicles(spare wheels, tyres...
