102 nights and counting ...

Hello there, long time - no posts! We have just had our 102nd night in the van - not bad considering we didn't start caravanning until March last year and only get 4 weeks holiday a year - what a lot of lovely weekends away we've had! Still loving the caravan and really liking the look of the new contemporary internals in some vans that have come out this year. Oh to dream about a new van ... will just have to content ourselves with looking and continuing on with the Lottery. Hope all of my fellow forumites have enjoyed their time away this summer (and how nice was it to be able to pack one's suncream and shorts and know it would get worn!) We have one more weekend away in October and will then see how the weather goes as to whether we go away again or not before Christmas as we have a trip to Cornwall to squeeze in, as well as Reading. Not enough weekends in the year. Anyway, hope everyone is well and happy and looking forward to Christmas which is 3 months today. Arrgggghhh

Lisa, for working people 102 nights so far is a very commendable total!
Herself and I have had a reasonably quiet carravanning year for us, which, in spite of three months in Europe, will only total 132 nights by the time we finish in November.
As we are retired old crumblies, with all the time in the world for leisure, this makes your effort all the more impressive!
Well done!

Thanks - when we bought the van we decided that we would rather be in it than sat looking at it on the drive! We have made sacrifices ... no more gym membership and my house isn't as clean as I would like it to be sometimes but we are happy. That is priceless and long may our caravanning days continue! They should be prescribed on the NHS - however don't get me started on the slight weight gain after treating every weekend as a mini holiday!

We thought we were doing well at eight weeks away. May have a couple more short breaks but will now leave it until we see the weather forecast.

I think it gets addictive ... I am already thinking seriously about when I can take early retirement or reduce my working week as my OH is ten years older than me and I would quite like to enjoy some serious caravanning with him before he gets to elderly or infirm to be able to carry on but it's a long way off yet and one can dream can't one? (I'm only 45 so we're talking about 13 years boo hoo). According to my Mum ... we are in for an Indian Summer, so never say never!
