Anyone know of a decent 12 volt tyre compressor. I've bought three from Argos, all different and they are all crap. The first two just packed up with hardly any use and the latest will do the caravan but the valve connector just releases the air from my car tyres.

Hi,

I use a Halfords Compressor, it works fine and seems good quality. The cord is also of a decent length so it can be plugged into the 12v in the boot of the car and is long enough to reach the caravan tyres.

I can't remember the exact price but it was around

The first having upped and walked? I've now bought two at a fiver each and they have both worked slowly but otherwise fine.

What I have found on mine is there are a couple of oiling holes for the piston and crank, they do need a drop of 3in1 now and again or they stop pumping and will perhaps leak air back out of the tyre!

The last one I bought from Argos was the RAC one and the valve connector is so flimsy. It connects ok to the van tyres but no way can I connect it to the tyre valves and all the time air is gushing out.

I've found the Halfords online site and see the

The cheap 12v. tyre compressors are only designed to go to approx. 30 psi and will last a short time. My wife has one in the boot of her car for emergency use. I used to carry one, but found as caravan tyre pressures seemed to have increased from around 30 psi to (my latest caravan is 66 psi) 60 plus psi. I needed to purchase a better tyre compressor. Checked out the various optains available and decided the Draper 12v. tyre compressor seemed ok. Purchased Draper Tools old model 12v. compressor from ebay for around
