12s wiring

Hiya every-one, I've just been looking at the wiring diagram for the 12s on the back of my car and it says that pin 5 is a reverse sensor, whats all that about

. The reversing lights on the caravan work from the reversing lights on the car through the socket and plug, but I would like to know what the pin 5 one is. I haven't got a clue so can any one shed any light on it please. By the way every thing on the caravan works just as it should, fridge, charging etc. I'm just curios really.

It usually cuts out the tow car reversing light when connected.
They also used to cut out the tow car rear fog lights as well.

Hi ive recently wired up my 12S socket and split relay to my car. And pin 5 (Brown Wire) is generally left as a spare as its not connected to anything.

Why is the picture of the 12N, when the 12S is being written about???????????

It's worth metioning again that unlike the 13 pin sets the 12s has a habit of burning out.

Hiya, dustydog, I don,t want to do a modification or anything I was curios as to what pin 5 does as it says that it's sensing . Just curios to see what it does to be honest, thanks tho'.
