Hi,

We are having issues with our van, the 20amp fuse at the battery box keep blowing.

I have tested the electrics and seems that the +ve is earting out somewhere.

Anyone have any ideas where to start tracing the fault.

Thanks

James

Hello Frank

Before I can give you some ideas as to what is wrong could you please say what and how you have tested the electrics, and also what caravan you have.

Thanks

Roy

Hi,

The caravan is a 2004 Ace Twinstar. I have disconnected all connections from the Main Panel and performed a continuity test between the 12v input from the battery and the earth wire, it seems that the +ve is grounding out somewhere in the van.

I am looking at the best way of tracing the fault. I was thinking of testing the +ve of all 12v circuits into the fuse board to try and isolate the circuit/appliance. Will this approach work?

Thanks

James

Meant to say test the +ve of each 12v circuit for an earth leak

An update, seems that the previous owner had reversed the polarity of the cables from the output of the fuse to the control unit.

Thanks to a Circuit Diagram with cable colurs from the Sargeant website I switched them to the correct polarity and lo and behold all is now working as expected.

Thanks for your help Roy

Hello James

Sorry i have been out until now and was just about to reply,i am glad you have sorted out the problem, its alway`s best to figure it out for yourself in the long run,as i found out when i had a problem with my water pump, since then apart from the gas i can fix any problem that i get with my caravan.

Regards

Roy
