12v issue

Hi,

I inadvertently connected the leisure battery the wrong way round very briefly. I have now connected it correctly but have no 12v power.

Can anyone help.

The caravan is a 2005 Bailey Pagent Bretagne.

Thanks

Yo have probably blown the main fuse to the battery, usually located very near the battery box inside the van, and most probably hidden away under the box.
Follow the red cable from the battery box until you find it, it is a 20 A fuse.

Presumably you have checked the blade fuses in the power distribution box?

Hi,
I agree with Damian,The 20A fuse has probably ruptured. This is an inline fuse close to the battery.
I connected the battery incorrectly last week and blew this fuse. The battery terminals polarity between batteries are different (poles reversed)

Damien as a matter of interest we have the black, red and some other cables all wrapped up in what looks like black insulation tape so you cannot tell the colouring of the wiring however there is a 20amp fuse inline. I have a feeling the dealer has done the wrapping as surely that is not correct?

What you have is, unfortunately, quite common and is done in manufacture by whoever supplies the cable looms.
The wiring regulations state that 12v and 230v cables should be separated and give a distance that it should be, but as always there is a "get out of Jail" card which says "As Far as Practical"

We all know that everything in a caravan is anything but "practical" in its installation, and especially regarding getting to items to service or repair them and it seems the van manufacturers rely on this to make installation quicker and easier.
