1999 ELDDIS HURRICANE

Hello,

I went to look at a 1999 ELDDIS HURRICANE caravan today & i'm after some advise please...

I noticed the carpet was raised in the middle, & by standing on it, it sinks back down. I then got down on my hands & knees & tried to get more of a feel with with my hands, again you push the carpet down & it then springs back up. My inital thought was potential damp underneath, but am I getting paraniod? Is it just a case of the glue has come away from the carpet?
If it was damp, how much would it cost to get somthing like this repaired? I feel I can get the van for a good price, leaving me with spare cash to get this fixed?

Without lifting the carpet and having a look it's difficult to say with any certainty why the carpet is raised.
If the floor itself feels springy this is often a sign of floor delamination which would be fairly common in a caravan that is at least 13 years old.
On it's own delamination can be repaired by someone with reasonable d-i-y skills and the time to work on the caravan, a kit to re-bond the floor panel where it has separated is available, Click Here
What did the vendor have to say about the dodgy carpet?
It's best to have a really good look to make sure that there are no other hidden problems with the caravan, look inside bed lockers (take a torch), in overhead lockers, behind curtains and around window rubbers for tell tale signs of damp because when you are buying, generally speaking damp caravan = scrap caravan

On asking the seller about the carpet, he said, I've noticed that as well, but I didn't to lift the carpet because I would damage it.
On inspecting the van, I took a torch & went through every nook & cranny & couldn't find any other signs of damp.

Have a look underneath the caravan to see if there are anysigns of damage or damp. If possible get underneath and push the plywood where the carpet is lifted because the delamination would be evident from underneath as well as inside the caravan
