2.00 ltr Diesel............Which one

Hi,

I am soon to lose my company car and will be looking for something slightly heavier than I currently have.

I have a Coachman Amara 520/4.What I am looking for is a 2ltr diesel estate, something like a Ford mondeo or I have the possibility of a Kia sportage 05 plate.

I have 3 weeks to find one ( I live in Northampton ).I would be grateful for any input..........

If your budget runs to new and nearly new, look at the Subaru Legacy Tourer and Subaru Outback - they've been available since April with Subaru's brilliant new 2.0D diesel engine - 4wd is included as standard. The Outback gets 50mm more ground clearance and self-levelling rear suspension, ideal for towing.

you could look at a rover 75 estate my neighbour has one on a 54 plate it's got the bmw engine in it and he swears by it but as rogerl says depends on what your budget is

Personally if you want an estate then i would stick to the proven ones like the mondeo or passate or as has been suggested the rover 75 tourer diesel, my dad had a rover 75 tourer diesel on a 53 plate and it was very good indeed as a tow car, i found the driving position a little low but dad loved it. he towed a coachman pastiche 520/4 with the rover and it pulled strongly and confidentely the pastiche is about 150 kgs heavier than the amara so you should be absolutely fine.

Don't laugh, but take a look at a Skoda Octavia. It's a little on the lighter side but bullet proof and a decent car.

I think there is only the octavia scout that would be heavy enough and they are still way above the budget that pat says they have. great car though and i dont think any one does laugh any more, or more fool them if they do.
