2008 Vauxhall meriva 1.6

Has anyone had any experience with the above car as a tow car? Didn't intend on buying as a tow car but vauxhall give a max towing weight of approx 1300kg which would pull anything i need, iknow all about the recommended 85% etc and have experience of towing caravans hore boxes and drive artics for a living just after what people's thoughts are having actually towed with one

hi, although Vauxhall quote 1300kg. if you do the sums . ie. max train weight, minus, max vehicle gross weight, it actually nearer 1200kg, 1300kg would not be far off 95% not that it really matters for an experienced tower. but worth noting. as tow car for the weight they are very good the only draw back is the 50kg max nose weight.
I towed a lightweight bailey for 3 years with mine no problems at all dead stable been from St austell to Ullapool towing with it never grumbled. I could not fault it. although mine is a 1.7cdti the 1.6 petrol is very similar power wise remember to use the gear box and she will be fine.
