Dont forget to look at a Kia Sportage updated model as it seems not to have all those extra curvy bits that have been added to exterior of the Tucson but of course are more or less identical under the skin, so I would expect published towing characteristics and data to run parallel too. You might enjoy this review alongside the Hyundai site info:

I've test drove the hybrid Tucson, it's towing limit is 1650kg with a 100kg NW limit.
Driving it's far better than the 190 diesel Tiguan.
It's on my short list but really I want the 4x4 not available on the UK market but standard in the US.

Plug in is standard 4x4 but has a reduced towing limit of 1350kg.

Sounds like it could be and idea car for me when we come to look but not to bother about a 4x4

Peugeot manufacture a very nice looking pick up called Peugeot Landtrek. Seems to be quite a robust vehicle with a towing limit of 3500kg and a 1.9L diesel engine.

Looks a nice vehicle with a couple of engine options too. Be interesting to see if it’s released in Britain which has an established pick up market. But VW and FIAT seem to have gained a market position, although FIAT is a Mitsubishi L200.

Peugeot had a good reputation in Africa with the old 404
I had the Peugoet 404, one as a pickup in the seventies for towing the caravan into the bush fully laden with 3-4 people in the bin plus all the luggage. No worries about nose weight, MTPLM etc. or even train weightVery rugged and easy to repair in the bush.
Many years later in tghe early eighties I bought the 404 estate and used that off road no problem. Both had column change and it was the opposite to all other column change vehicles that I had driven.
