7 pin n plug connection

When my car and caravan are hooked up my left indicators dont work all round on my caravan {i have checked bulbs/fuses on both car and caravan} - they work on the car with the sound inside the car working also - i have hooked up my caravan with my friends car and everything works great - i have taken the car to a towbar fitter who hooked up a caravan and this all worked OK as well - but car and caravan just dont go together - the fitter recommends fitting a new 7 pin plug to the caravan - any help or advise would be much appreciated......Adam.

I would agree with dusty here and change both plugs , you could try a sqiurt of wd 40 down the plugs and sockets if it works all well and good ,even so I would still change them

If that doesnt work change car and caravan 🙁

Good Luck

Sir Roger

The most common fault is in the plug and socket in between the van and car.

If you look at the plug you will see the connections. These are brass and they are split into four sections. Widen these sections slightly with a screwdriver.

That will improve electrical connection and this should be your first port of call.

Incidentally, try not to wiggle the plug off. This action tends to close the contacts together resulting in poor contact.

Disconnect with a firm straight pull instead.
