8" LCD TV

I have been offered a 8" lcd tv the make is Lilliput,i am considering buying it and stopping lugging our 14" portable about.Do's any one use a lcd this size,i am worried it won't be a big enough screen for us to watch in comfort thanks

The 8" are fine for cars when you sit up close but not so good in the caravan,have a look at a 15" lcd from the likes of Argos much more compact and still a big screen.
 
If your computer plays DVD's, why not try reducing the size of the picture to 8" (that's the diagonal of course) and see what you think.

For best results, cut a cardboard mask to hide the rest of the screen, and watch a whole movie, as you might go off the small screen after watching it for a bit.
 
It really depends how far you are from the telly but my thoughts are that if you've been used to watching a 14" screen then the 8" will be too small.
 
We have been using an 8 inch screen and have been thinking of getting a bigger one.

You would need to weigh up the advantages of size, portability and weight of a small screen against how much you watch it.

Do not forget it is easy to move the small screen to somewhere closer or even on your lap in bed and then you will not notice the difference at all.

If you are a large family who always watch the same programmes together when caravanning then I would recommend a bigger screen.

If you are a couple who use it for the odd programme or late night film the smaller screen should be OK.

We had always hankered after a small flat screen TV that would fold away under the sidewall units when not in use. Most we saw were very expensive, but then we spotted a perfect caravan model in, of all places, Lidl. It's a Silver Crest KDT-77 combined TV, DVD and radio, with full remote and is ideal for our purposes. It has 7" colour screen that pushes back completely flat under the wall unit. Picture is excellent and sound acceptable for what it is. It's so neat and convenient, we want one now for the kitchen, but Lidl sold out and I can't find them anywhere else. (PS: cost

I had the same problem last year when I changed the van little or no storage for a porable tv, as all the h/w system batterybox. zig unit ect was placed under the bunks plus the internal bunk height in the new van was reduced from 12in to 10in witch is to short for most 14in tv's so I bought a 10in flat screen instead but only used it once it's screen was too small to watch, unless placed on the table in front of you then only one person can watch it comfortably.

my solution was to buy a usb tv card for the laptop it works a treat 15in widescreen and 5.1 sound system you have to watch the volume though! and another plus is on sites with wi-fi i can get on the internet and watch internet tv and read my e mails. hope this helps

Is this Lidl TV 12V if fed via a transformer?

If there is only a mains power lead that will mean it is not, if fed via a transformer the voltage is marked on the transformer and input socket on the TV.

yes, it is 12v, but they don't supply the lead for that. I am happy with mains hook-up...
