'98 Elldis Hurricane mixer tap micro switch

I need to replace the microswitch on the van's kitchen mixer. Assuming it was a Whale tap, I bought a new Whale microswitch. However, it's not like the original which is brown and about twice the size.

At the local accessory / spares shop I was told these microswitches are no longer available.

If anyone knows if this is right or where I could get a spare I'd be grateful. I don't really want to spend £50 on a new tap if I can avoid it.
