Hi Gill

have just had a look at the A28 all I can tell you is we did the N17 and then via Meaux and Melun to reach the A10 to Orleans, it took us about 5 hours from Calais to reach the A 10 junction with A11.Post a message to say how you get on.

Always travelled to Tours and LeMans Via Rouen and avoided Paris where I've been many times.

Made the mistake of listening to somebody who swore by going VIA Paris. The route made me swear!!!!!!!!! Just avoid Paris Area unless you plan a visit.

We hit hold ups and then hit the rush hour traffic fleeing Paris for the weekend :-(

I'd rather spend a day towing the van around the M25 than experience that again, Suicidal french drivers wooshing in and out around your van in heavy traffic is not a good start to a Holiday.

Made the same mistake going near Paris on route to Magny Cours for the GP, just avoid the place for peace of mind and the possibility of saving hours sat in traffic.

Many years ago, in the 80s, when trucking to Italy every week, instead of using the Perifreque around Paris we started using Senlis-Meaux-Melun- Fontainebleau & Nemours. Then that got too busy too,now the Disneyworld is on that route, so we then started using St Quentin-Laon- Reims- Troyes& Dijon, which I believe is now all Autoroute. But Paris was a real no, no, unless you could hit it between 0100-0400 as Norfolk Mike says. But this often meant "bending the tacho"!!!
