Has the Gulf crisis changed your driving approach?

With Donald and Benjamin’s version of a Special Military Operation entering its fourth week I have noticed a reduction in traffic around our area. But there have been no queues at local fuel stations, perhaps the price has acted as a moderator to drivers’ purchases. Ours are around 148.9p for petrol and diesel almost 30 pence dearer. We are tending to use the little Rio more, not because it’s any more economical but the RAV4 is fully fuelled and as we are away in mid April keeping it reasonably full will cover our driving needs for five days away. So it is a bit like when we were in Covid lockdown it just goes for a five mile drive periodically to keep everything charged. I generally have at least a spare five litres of fuel for the mower in the garden locker, but can use daughter’s electric mower if required. The main effect has been we don’t travel quite as far for outdoor walks. Avebury Downs as opposed to Savernake or Salisbury Plain. Still nice though in this early spring weather.
Needless to say our grandson just smiles as he passes fuel stations, as electric is still available and cheap.

We are due to head off to France in 4 weeks time in our MH for 5 weeks, so I am keeping a very careful eye on the availability (or otherwise) of diesel, particularly in France!

My "plan" if we do go, is to (hopefully) always keep the fuel tank at least 75% full (about 400 miles worth) topping up to 100% (500 miles worth) at every opportunity, but thats assuming there will be any at the fuel stations. Fingers are well crossed in the Plodd house.

My self righteous eco-nut mate hasn't stopped droning on about how he has nothing to worry about with his 2 EV's.

When Covid hit some prices went even higher than they are today. From what I saw then and today it doesn't seem to make any difference to a lot of folks driving habits.

Not sure if its just a Scottish thing but when driving here, it seems mandatory that you shouldn't be behind anyone and that speed limits are just a guideline.

Decided to replace our gas guzzler and buy an EV to avoid any rationing that might arrive. C wasn't happy so we ended up not getting an EV and buying a petrol car that should return 60mpg.
It means my Yeti will be totally reduced to just towing and not even long journeys, unless I get bored with the new arrival.
