abbey spectrum roof leak

Whilst returning some stuff to our 2 year old Abbey Spectrum after our recent holiday (van kept on secure site) it started to rain. To our surprise water started to run in to one of the top boxes at the back. Closer inspection revealed that the roof seal between the roof panel and the back panel has gone. This is just a bit of silicone sealant. I was surprised that this should happen on a virtually new van and about the amount of water that came in in a short time. Van is now patched up with Duck tape waiting to go in. Has any one else had this type of failure in a young Spectrum? Thanks

Do you have a copy of the July 2005 Caravan Club magazine? Page 34 onwards has the results of the 2005 quality and reliability survey, with a look back over 2002 and 1999 surveys.

Part of the survey includes rainwater ingress and has league tables showing rainwater ingress by make, and rainwater ingress by location on the van.

You may want to get a copy of the survey now, to support any claim you make.
