Adding extra socket in van

Can anybody give me advice on adding a 240 volt 3 pin socket to my ABI Dalesman van or does anybody have a wiring diagram? Is it best to wire it into the fuse box?.

Ben

Depends on where you want the socket. Most caravans are wired as radial circuits, so the easiest way is simply to find the nearest 240V socket or junction box and extend from that - it's difficult to overload the wiring as the circuit breaker is only 10 amps. You could also cut a wire and insert a junction box if there's sufficient slack in the cable. Don't take it from the fridge circuit, however, as that will be wired to the 5 amp circuit breaker.

What John has sugested is exactly wat we did for 2 exra socets in our last van.

Bought them from the dealer to match the existing

Dont use domestic socket outlets get them from your caravan dealer as they have back boxes that clamp on and take the thickness of the locker wood into effect. I am not explaining it properly but you will see what I mean when you come to fit them.
