Adhesive to mount rear view camera on caravan

Hi all
Ive purchased a rear view camera with built in battery. The mount is magnetic but the caravan isnt 🙂. Im looking at using a sealant to either fix the camera mount to the roof or rear of my caravan or to fix a strong magnet to the roof to mount the camera mount on.
Any idea of which strong adhesives are safe to use on the caravan? I thought about Silkaflex but not sure it strong enough to hold the camera and mount in place while towing.
Any suggestions?

Could try 3M or Sanjo automotive adhesive tapes. Most car trims and some bumpers are held on with them.

Thanks for these suggestions. My worry is that while driving the adhesives may not be strong enough. However ive never used the tape or Silkaflex!

It will be strong enough, I would go for the sikaflex because I have noticed that some traffic film remover products can break down tapes, not saying it would adversely affect Sanjotape, just my preference.

I have mine mounted on a steel plate which is attached to the caravan with three strips of the, self adhesive , number plate stuff. Been on there for over 3 years and maybe 8000 miles.

Excellent Sikaflex 512 it is then. Thanks

Just one point about Silkafix, make sure you have a good layer of adhesive between fixing and van 1mm would do.
i.e don't squeeze it out to much.

I use Sikaflex 291 on the boat a lot. To give you and indication of how strong it is, a boatbuilder mate of mine was replacing winches on a sailing boat. WInches are held down with 5 or 6 bolts and in order to stop leaks through the bolt holes, the base is sealed with Sikaflex. So the bolts came out, and the winch base wouldn't shift. The winch was reassembled (they can deliver a good 500kg force), a rope wrapped around and attached to a strong point, and winching commenced. The Sikaflex still didn't give way, the outer GRP skin did, and came off still attached to the winch by the Sikaflex.
The lesson to take is if you intend to use Sikaflex, it's worth putting a small spacer (e.g. in the winch case, a standard washer under the winch base for each bolthole) before sealing, then you can use a cheese wire to cut through the Sikaflex if you need to remove...

Hi,
Just use a couple of Number plate double sided sticky pads
Sikaflex is good....but me mindful that some adhesives react with some paint/Plastics.
From experience..good quality number plate pads are the way to go.
