Im thinking of buying a adria altea 542uk 2007 model, Any one out there got one? If so could you give me a quick review.

Hi I have the 2006 Adria Altea 502 DK and the van you are thinking of is quite similar I find the van excellent to live with and tow this is my 2nd Adria caravan my first was a 2006 Altea 432 PX unfortunately written off after an accident but would highly recommend the van.

We also have a 502 DK and wouldn't swap it for anything, there is plenty of space inside and the beds are of a good size, it's lightweight and tows smoothly. If we have a tight pitch to reverse into, it's plenty light enough to unhitch and push onto the pitch, much to the disappointment of your neighbours who were hoping to see you make a total hash of things, in a nice possible way.

Ordered my Altea 542UK at the NEC in October.

Just heard today that we can pick it up next week. This is our

first caravan and we ar so excited about our first trip. Will

let you know what it is like.

Finally managed to get hold the van from the dealer after a couple of delays.

We have used it twice and we are really pleased.

I managed to get some modifications to the original spec agreed at the NEC show, without paying extra to the list price.

The water heater has been upgraded from a Truma Therme to a Henry water heater. The heating was also upgraded to include ultra heat. We had an oven fitted to improve the kitchen facilities (are holiday makers in Europe so wealthy that they can afford to eat out for every meal?). We got a couple of 12V sockets put in, an Alko 3004 triple pack, didn't pay for the pre-inspection and got the van delivered to the house.

The layout really suits my family with two young girls. The bunks are amongst the biggest we have seen; I am 6ft 4 and I can lie down easily. They are also very wide when compared to the fixed bunks in a Bailey Ranger and Sprite six birth vans.

The extra dinette at the back is also very wide, when compared to the above mentioned vans. I was able to sit with the children in this dinette and have breakfast quite comfortably. I also like the concertina door, allowing us to shut the children off in the evening.

I suppose it is difficult to get the perfect layout and there is room for improvement. The washroom is tight, but useable. The front lounge area, strangely omits a window next to the door; I can not understand why, as there is a window opposite. The door lock is poor and, like in the Ranger series, would be improved with a window. There is no Hekki roof light, but there is provision for it and we plan to have this fitted at the 12 month service.

Finally, it is not the most modern looking van from the outside, but we are delighted with the inside (especially as the curtains are not at all fussy and heavy like in so many UK vans). Time will tell of course, but at the moment I am really pleased newcomer to the world of caravanning and hope to notch up 50 nights by October.

We have had our new Adria 502DK since March and are very pleased with it - suitable for a family with two young children. Problems: the fridge seems to run very hot and would like to convert the water heater and heater to run on gas so we are self sufficient at CLs. Can anyone recommend the best heater we could fit?
