We have recently decided to purchase an used caravan, with a budget of approximately £5000. As we are completely new to caravaning (the only experience being going away on caravan holidays as a child some 20 years) we have extensively researched numerous guides etc with regards to the dangers of buying a stolen, damp, damaged etc caravan and are fairly happy we have a good idea what to look for. We have viewed several caravans, and have found issues with a lot. One of the biggest problems we have is being unable to gauge what a fair value is for a caravan. We have seen numerous caravans advertised which seem too cheap with only an email address (which we assumed was a crude way of harvesting email addresses) Recently we have seen a caravan a 2004 compass omega 5 birth for £4250, it seems to be in good conditions (from the pictures!!) and only includes a mobile number and a name. We would be greatful for any advice with regards to this price and also what type of year model etc should we looking at for £5000.

It might be a good idea to contact your local dealership who may give you an idea of the price that you can expect to pay.

There is a free Caravan Price Guide and the Practical Caravan Caravan Finder carries online adverts for used caravans which might give you some idea.
