Not clear from the blurb. Is this the end of the annual hub removal and new 9ne shot nuts. Four cost me a lot each year :(

I have to say, that this is well overdue. I was stunned when I found out that caravans are still using manually adjusted brakes with all the inherent issues that this type of braking system displays. Sooner they are standard the better.

However, Al-Ko Kober still recommends the removal of the brake drum for inspection and cleaning, so the time saving is likely to be minimal.

Buy a single axle next time Dusty

I have not seen the nuts on the hub (yet), but I expect I would buy M8 grade (possibly A2 stainless) nuts (flanged or otherwise) and re-use them numerous times.

Do the Alko ones have some built in locking device or other feature ?

Sir Haggis.
NO.NO.Do not use any nut other than the Al-ko one shot one at £6.50 each.
Anything else will be a botch outside of the design .
End result could be a loss of a hub and wheel at speed :eek:hmy:
When new unused the nuts are slightly oval which gives them their grip on the stub axle once correctly torqued.
If you used locking compound or something else it is possible next time you undo the nut the entire stub axle will rotate. The rear bolt holding the stub axle to the suspension arm will then move upsetting the entire geometry of the axle.
If you mess up the whole axle has to be returned to Al-ko for readjustment.
:woohoo:
Be safe and buy the genuine part.

The triple A brakes have been around for a while now, not many vans are using them at the moment.......that I have come across, same servicing as previous hubs other than they adjust themselves, same one shots, different shoes.
