Al-Ko wheel lock receiver

Hi everyone. I've got an Al-Ko Secure wheel lock receiver fitted to the nearside wheel of my caravan. Does anyone know if these lock receivers can be transferred to the other wheel, or are they all welded in as part of the Al-Ko axle?

They would not be welded in as they are supplied as a fitment, independent of Alko.
I would think that you would have to dismantle the brake bake plate to remove.

Ah, I see. I've been looking online for Al-Ko wheel lock receivers and can't even find an image of one, let alone one for sale. Are you saying they're manufactured by someone else, not Al-Ko?

As I understand it the Al-Ko receivers are fitted, as part of manufacture, to Al-Ko chassis. One then uses Al-Ko wheel locks for security utilising the Al-Ko receivers. I'm not sure where any third party would come into it.

Edit - For 'chassis' read 'axle'.

If you want to change sides you are looking at big bucks.
What's wrong with what you have?
They bolt / are welded to the suspension back plate, not the chassis. A good system but on our TA you have to jack up the whole caravan to fit them.An Insurer requirement.

Nothing wrong with the one I've got Dustydog. If it's big bucks and too difficult I'll make do. It's just that the lock is not only physically re-assuring, it's a visual deterrent. With mine on the offside, it gets covered by the awning skirt and the awning itself and can't be seen. If it was an easy process I was going to get the receiver swapped over to the other side when the van goes in for service in March.

I have thought of that myself, not for long though, but tend to put on my old wheel lock on the right hand side so its visable, Alkos are a real pain to get on if your on a uneven site and using ramps. I think thats where, is it a Nemises, ? Fit more easily, asked the Cc insurance about it and they said if I didnt have the alko, my premium was up by £20 , when not in storage. So dont mind paying the extra.

Yes, I've got a Nemesis as well, but I was hoping to sell that in the new year to offset the cost of the Al-Ko. They're good but as you say, insurance is cheaper with the Al-Ko. Might end up keeping the Nemesis to put on the other wheel as the visual deterrent. Fort Knox!!

Lunar fitted receivers to both sides on our caravan but not sure what make you have. May sound stupid but have you checked both sides.
Not sure what you would get for a second hand Nemisis Ultra, but I doubt it would go very far towards fitting the ALKO receiver.

Yes, good point. My van is a Coachman Pastiche and yes, I have checked on the offside but the receiver is fitted to the nearside only.

It is going to be "handed" so you can't change it over. Never looked into buying one for the other side so I don't know if that is even an option. Looks like it is part of the backplate build.
As I have a full amount of insurance discounts ie, the maximum they allow, then fitting the lock or not makes no difference to my premium.

I admit to pitching up and if not getting the Alko correctly in line. If not
putting up my awninig, I just put the the " lock lump , " into the
wheel, for show, , and put the old wheel lock on the RH side.

I bought up this business of a "visual deterrent" with both Swift and Alko a few years ago, as I also cover the lock with the awning - the former never replied and the latter just sent me a tiny sticker to put on an offside window saying something like "Beware, Alko lock fitted" !

PS It would also stop the missus opening the 'van door into my head whenever I'm fitting or removing the lock!
