alhambra and Senator Carolina

We are looking to buy a Bailey Senator Carolina but unsure if our car is suitable to tow it. We have a Seat Alhambra 1.9 TDI 130 BHP with sports suspension. Went on to whattowcar.com and it said a perfect match however when you look at the weights they dont seem to be right. Can anyone give me any advice on this because I really have my heart set on the Carolina.

Thanks

Carolyn

Depends on how close to the wind you like to sail, Carolyn. At the figures suggested already, you will be towing at or above the 100% mark. In my book, not a good idea. If you really want that Bailey layout, how about looking at the previous model? Chances are it will be lighter, and in some respects as good as or even better than the present model. Just a thought, at the end of the day, if it's legal, it's legal. Another thought, there are plenty of activities out there that are legal, but downright dangerous, would you want to do those as well?

Bite the bullet, get a heavier car.

Thanks all

I am not sure if we have been working out the figures properly but we work it out to be 95% which is still over the 85% rule but according to the caravan dealer still ok. We worked it out at MTPLM( 1739kg)x kerbweight(1820)x 100. I also read in another thread on this forum having a sports suspension is a benefit when towing. Can anyone give me feedback on that.

Thanks

Carolyn
