I think I've stripped the thread.
Does any one in the South East Northumberland area have the necessary 3 piece M20×1.5 tap set I could perhaps borrow...
Thanks in advance for any replies.

One way to reclaim a damaged bolt is to use a same sized bolt and use a junior hacksaw to put 3 or 4 cuts at an vertical angle to the thread. The grooves made assist in recutting the damaged thread. If possible a drop or two of lubricant should used, and the bolt tightened slightly, then released, this backward and forward operation should be repeated until it is fully inserted, cleaning off any swarf of the bolt collected on the bolt thread.IF! I remember correctly it may be the same size tap as used on Carver 2 hot water heater (plastic water connectors).Good luck..Gary

I have purchased a re-thread tap kit from eBay...£16.
Hopefully it will sort it out...

If you have indeed stripped the thread out of the receiver then there will be no metal left for the tap to cut into to "repair" it.
They only option then is a new receiver, or a "helicoil " insert.
