Alko pads

Hi guys never had any trouble with a Alko stabiliser before until now. We broke down on holiday a few weeks ago and had to be recovered home so the rac towed our caravan back with the flat bed lorry. We've just gone away for the first time since and the hitch groans like mad. I'm assuming it's because the pads on the hitch are now dirty from the ball of the lorry. Can these pads be cleaned or do they need to be replaced. It's a 3004 type. Cheers mark

Use brake and clutch spray cleaner and give the pads a really good soaking, wipe with paper towelling, then use medium emery paper to remove any stubborn contamination, then another good spray with the brake cleaner, leave to evaporate.

Leave them in situ and make sure you give the rest of the hitch cup a good clean too.
