Is type approval necessary to repair things in the UK? We don't have the same regime as TUV in Germany.

It is true that in the UK there are not the stringent measures in place to check whether any safety related components, such as axles, meet the same standards that the manufacturer documented when the vehicle (trailer/caravan) was submitted for type approval, but that doesn't change the fact that the Certificate of Conformity that the manufacturer issued with the vehicle only applies to the vehicle as built by him with his factory-fitted components. His product liability ceases to apply if a non-OEM safety-related component is fitted. The manufacturer of any such replacement component must therefore be able to provide documentation that it meets the same requirements. One way in which this can be done in the UK is to have the component type approved through the VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency).

Euro Axle make no mention whether their axles are type approved or not. Without such documentation, the caravan would no longer be approved for use on public roads. Before fitting one of their axles one should therefore ask them for appropriate documentation.
Hi, I spoke to them it's not mentioned on the website but will be soon. They are certified. Just call them speak to Bob.

What do you mean by certified? Are they Type Approved or not, it’s a pretty important piece of information, and the details of the particular Type Approval needs to be shown.
